CARE call allows patients, families or carers to call for help, if they feel that health care providers have not listened to, understood or responded to concerns about a change in their health condition.
CARE Call is now in place at all twelve hospitals in the South West health region.
Using the CARE call option is a three step process:
Step 1: Talk to the nurse, midwife or doctor looking after you or the person you care for regarding your concerns.
Step 2: If you’re still worried, talk to the nurse or midwife in charge of the shift.
Step 3: If you think it is urgent or remain concerned and feel that you have not had an appropriate response, call the 1800 CARE call number on the poster displayed in the hospital.
Patients will also receive a brochure on admission to hospital.
