The City of Busselton have issued a statement to advise the community works on Peel Terrace from Causeway Road to Stanley Street are not related to the Eastern Link.
This section of road is being reconstructed due to a pavement failure and would be taking place with or without consideration of the City Centre Eastern Link development.
The city does not have all the necessary approvals in place to commence construction of the Eastern Link and is still undertaking the Commonwealth environmental approval process.
Further, council has resolved to undertake additional stakeholder consultation on the outcomes of the Traffic Management Study before deciding whether to proceed with construction of the City Centre Eastern Link.
The Eastern link involves the creation of an alternative entrance into the Busselton town centre via a link road over the Vasse River.
Eastern Link forms part of a broader suite of road modification projects that while designed to bring lasting traffic congestion relief, are suitable for staged delivery over the short, medium and longer term.
