Both girl teams in the junior hockey competition had blistering seasons in 2018 leading them towards the grand final.
The younger year 6-8 team spent a good portion of the season at the top of the ladder and were winners of the Challenge Cup earlier in the season.
Countrys eventually took pole position on the ladder with Robins firmly in second place.
In the first round of semi’s Countrys and Robins faced each other with a win to Countrys, leaving Robins to face winners of the other semi, Wests.
The Robins girls had the majority of the play getting an early 1-nil lead.
However, Wests got a break to even the score at the end of play leading into penalty shots to decide the winner.
Robins’ goalie Cate Anderson led the team to a 5-3 victory.
The 9-12 girls have also had a successful season finishing the season second on the ladder.
Their semi final saw them play their best ever game against Margaret River.
It was a very fast paced and intense battle but the Robins girls sealed the deal with a 3-1 win.
Margaret River went on to have victory over Countrys in the preliminary final and will meet Robins again in the grand final this Friday night.
The Robins Hockey Club is the only all female hockey club in the South West and was founded in 1958.
They are very grateful to SportFirst and House of Cards for their support during the year.
