Have you been to Manjimup before - if yes, what were your impressions? If not, what are you expecting?
No I have not but I am looking forward to exploring the region and meeting the locals and people who will be attending the event
Had you heard about Truffle Kerfuffle before? What are you expecting?
I have and I am stoked to be able to come and spend the weekend and explore the region and cook with this amazing and unique product.
Would you call yourself a truffle lover? Have you used Manjimup truffles before?
I am a truffle lover and I love using them when they are in season. I have not used Manjimup truffles yet which is why I am super keen to do this event as I know they are some of the best in the world.
What is it about truffles that you like?
They are so unique and they are only around for a short period of time per year which makes them super special, add to that the taste and perfume they can add to a dish and there is good reason they are a much loved ingredient
What are some of your favourite ways to use truffles?
With eggs, meat, seafood, vegetables and desserts, they really are very versatile and I am excited to create some recipes using them and sharing them with the audience.
The Southern Forests region is renowned for producing high quality produce: Apples in particular the Bravo Apple, avocados, potatoes, pumpkins, nuts, all manner of fruit and vegetables, marron, meat, etc.
You'll find stalls and honesty boxes on the side of the road. As a healthy food advocate, what are you looking forward to the most?
Fresh local produce grown and raised with love and care is really what excites me about food and I cannot wait to try some of the regions stand out ingredients.
What can event-goers expect from your restaurant and events at Truffle Kerfuffle?
A lot of laughs, good times and of course great food and conversation.
When was the last time you were in WA for work? For holiday? Where did you go and what do you love about WA?
I was over recently for MKR and had a great surf with some mates in Margaret River area and got to enjoy some local restaurants that blew me away.
Can you describe some of your fondest memories of previous travels to WA?
Where do I start, wow, WA is what I always tell people from overseas that it is the most unique part of the planet that offers everything from the Kimberley which to me is the most energetic spiritual place I have ever been fortunate enough to journey through.
So much history, culture and wisdom to learn from our indigenous brothers and sisters and a place that I love coming back to time and time again.
Down to the southern parts of WA for some of the best food and surf in the world and anywhere on the WA coastline is a great place to fish which is something that I love. Oh and I have skydived a few times in Western Australia and it is freakin' beautiful from up there looking down.
What do you think sets WA's produce aside from other States?
The seafood is something I always search out whether it is catching it myself and cooking it or dining at a restaurant to enjoy, I simply love Western Australia's seafood.
Have you noticed foodies and venues outside of WA taking more notice of the State's precious commodities, such as black truffle, premium wine, marron etc? And if so, why do you think this is?
Yes, WA is firmly on the map and I travel across the globe every year and I always get a little proud and homesick when I see some good Aussie wine and food ingredients on some of the menus in best restaurants in the world, including WA's wine and produce too.
