Esperance based three-piece band Grand Casual seem a little unusual. It's not all that often that three musicians draw together with boldly different personalities, influences and life experience to create music.
Grand Casual formed in 2017 with front man Kyron Smithson, Matt Coooper on guitar and Joe Franzone on drums.
Smithson said there was a really diverse influence between the three band members
"When we started we had a really rock-blues style, now we have incorporated elements of a coastal groove to hip-hop, reggae and a lot of variation in our sets, it is what we absolutely love," he said.
"We really value our live performances which is what we focus on and put a lot of work into developing our sets so they build in tempo and change over the performance."
Grand Casual have been touring around Western Australia mostly between Esperance and Perth which have included gigs in the South West.
"This will be our first time at Clancy's in Dunsborough we are really excited about that," Smithson said.
"The audience has been really positive, our style and sets appeal to a wider demographic.
"As a regional band it is really important to understand that you want to play stuff that anyone will enjoy, which we put a big focus on.
"We recently had two really great shows in Perth where we played at Rodney's Bait and Tackle where the audience is aged between 35 to 65 years. We were really well received and played a drawn back set because it was a smaller bar.
"The next day we played at the Indian Ocean Hotel to 300 odd people, we played a really rowdy set which was exceptionally well received by the audience who were aged 18 to 35.
"A big part of our goal is to be flexible so we can play at a lot of different venues and gigs."
Grand Casual recorded three tracks in August with Perth producer Andy Lawson at Debaser Studio.
"We did our first five professional tracks with him and just recorded another three," Mr Smithson said.
"We will release those as singles over summer, after our gigs in October we have key gigs coming up in summer yet to be announced."
Smithson said they were excited to be heading back to the South West to play at Clancy's.
"Our shows down there are always so much fun and there is a great music scene around Dunsborough and Margaret River," he said.
"We have a strong networks of musicians who we perform with and have built a bit of a following in the South West from our previous performances.
"We are super excited to get back there and this will be our first time playing at Clancy's which is such a well established live music venue.
"We are really look forward to it and if you are looking for an interesting diverse sound Grand Casual is probably the band for you.
"Our music is super fun to have a beer and a bit of a dance."
Grand Casual will be playing at Clancy's Fish Pub from 4pm on October 25, 2020.
